Barwon in the Community

March 1, 2018 /

In conjunction with Red Line Productions, Barwon is proud to be a co-producer of the Australian premier of the play “The Wolves”. Written by Sarah De Lappe, the play was a runner-up for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play centres on the experiences of a high school girls’ soccer team as they deal with a myriad of challenges on and off the pitch through the course of a season. At its core it is a celebration of women. It is empowering, funny and ultimately fierce.

Red Line Productions was co-founded by Andrew Henry and Vanessa Wright in 2014. Its focus is on ensemble traditions and it strives to build the best new contemporary theatre and performance practice, building a rigorous community for theatre amongst both emerging and established artists. Its work is vital to ensure that Australia’s independent creative ecology remains distinct and resilient. Its home is the Old Fitz Theatre, part of the Old Fitzroy Hotel, Woolloomooloo.

Independent theatre is a tough business and Barwon is proud to support Red Line Productions in its ongoing great work in supporting actors and writers as they share their creative talents for the benefit of our communities.
