Ausbiz Interview – Bob Liu: Best investments are often made at the worst of times…

August 7, 2024 / Global Investments

In an interview with ausbiz, Bob Liu, Portfolio Manager of the Barwon Global Private Equity Fund, discusses the current slowdown in private equity (PE) transaction activity. This slowdown, which began in late 2021, is attributed to a divergence in buyer and seller price expectations due to rising interest rates and changing market conditions. Liu notes that as market expectations converge, transaction activities should increase. He also highlights the impact of delayed exist activity on reinvestment and fundraising, and recommends diversified investment in PE through listed securities for better liquidity and transparency.
